Jeroen Jongeleen is part of the group show Levend Landschap: Zes eeuwen Zuid-Hollandse Maasdelta at Stedelijk Museum Schiedam (Living Landscape:
Six centuries of south Holland's Maas delta)

In Running against the Wind we see and hear Jeroen Jongeleen toiling through ploughed land. In the circular trail of his footsteps falls the shadow of a turning wind turbine. It is, in a sense, the modern version of the historic windmill, which is becoming more and more iconic. Jongeleen started out as a graffiti artist. Nowadays he leaves traces in the landscape by running around in perfect circles. He chooses his locations with great care. His 'tags' can be found on the beach, a new housing estate or - as in this video - on a frozen crop field.

With an eye on mankind's surroundings, Stedelijk Museum Schiedam presents the exhibition that shows works from artists like Jan van Goyen, Johan Barthold Jongkind, Jan Sluijters and Charley Toorop that depict the landscape of the Zuid-Hollandse Maasdelta from the 16th ceintury on. Showing both destruction and beauty.

Until 6 November 2022.
