LIMA’s project Media Art on Wikipedia aims to increase the (online) visibility of media artists and their works. In order to achieve that, they collaborate with the world's largest online encyclopedia, Wikipedia. During writing sessions they work together under the guidance of an experienced Wikipedian on new articles about media artists and their works.

During the workshop at Upstream, we will write and/or supplement Wikipedia pages for artists, among others, that are currently on display at Upstream’s Future Bodies exhibition. In this group exhibition curated by Anne de Jong (gallery manager Upstream, art historian), eight female artists explore the role of the body through various technologies.

For the workshop, we will set up a large table in the middle of the Future Bodies exhibition. We’d be more than happy for you to join us in this special and intimate setting.

By participating, you contribute to increasing the visibility of these artists - and media art in general!

This workshop is part of the project Media Art on Wikipedia, a collaborative project by LIMA in partnership with Wikimedia Nederland, The Cultural Heritage Agency Netherlands (RCE), Van Abbemuseum, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and Frans Hals Museum.

Met het project Mediakunst op Wikipedia wil LIMA de (online) zichtbaarheid van mediakunstenaars en hun werken vergroten. Ze doen dit door samen te werken met 's werelds grootste online encyclopedie: Wikipedia. Tijdens schrijfsessies werken ze samen, onder begeleiding van een ervaren Wikipediaan, aan nieuwe artikelen over mediakunstenaars. Deze keer  met Upstream Gallery in Amsterdam!

Tijdens onze workshop bij Upstream gaan wij Wikipedia-pagina’s schrijven en/of aanvullen over onder meer de kunstenaars die nu te zien zijn bij Upstream in de tentoonstelling Future Bodies. In deze door Anne de Jong (galerie manager Upstream, kunsthistoricus) samengestelde groepstentoonstelling onderzoeken acht vrouwelijke kunstenaars de rol van het lichaam door middel van verschillende technologieën.

Voor de workshop zetten we een grote grote tafel midden in de tentoonstelling Future Bodies neer en verwelkomen jullie graag in deze informele setting.

Door mee te doen draag je bij aan het vergroten van de zichtbaarheid van deze kunstenaars - en mediakunst in het algemeen!

Deze workshop is onderdeel van het partnerproject Mediakunst op Wikipedia, een initiatief van LIMA, in samenwerking met Wikimedia Nederland, de Rijksdienst voor Cultureel Erfgoed (RCE), Van Abbemuseum, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam en Frans Hals Museum.
