Marc Bijl part of group show at Museum Arnhem: Tussen Grenzen

Marc Bijl is part of the group exhibition Tussen grenzen at Museum Arnhem with his artwork Victory! (2014).

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION TUSSEN GRENZEN
All over the world, people move across borders. In the 21st century, people migrate more than ever for a variety of political, economic and environmental reasons. At the same time, moving around is increasingly difficult for a lot of people. How difficult, or easy, it is, is often determined by your passport. Where are you welcome and where are you not? And when you are in another country, when do you feel at home? In the exhibition Tussen grenzen, artists, fashion and jewellery designers and Arnhemmers give answers to those questions.

Tussen grenzen consists of two parts. From 3 June, young fashion and jewellery designers living in the Netherlands will show work about living and working between two worlds. From 15 July, national and international artists and Arnhemmers will also share their personal experiences with borders and migration.

ABOUT THE ARTWORK VICTORY! (2014)
Marc Bijl's paintings, sculptures, installations and interventions often reflect his interest in archetypes, national symbols, international (power) politics and group identity. He likes to apply contradictions in his work (black and white, right-wrong, individual-group). The twelve luminous stars in his screenprint Victory! evoke associations with national flags and nationalist symbols. The title additionally lends the work a military-historical connotation.
