traces
The scent of perfume, a cloud of breath dissolving in cold air, a tiny drop of sweat or the dying echo of a word that was spoken long ago. These are fragments of an impression that we wanted to leave behind, separated from the person to which they belong. We strive to create the best possible first impression, but we have no control over the hyper personal traces that remain after we disappear.
This emotional residue lingers in the room after our departure. The traces that we unintentionally left behind disappear as time goes by, slowly dissolving and becoming one with the world around us.
The exhibition Traces shows the slowly disappearing traces of our presence that are no longer there. What remains in the end are the memories that we leave behind – traces in
someone else’s brain.
