Ronald Ophuis and Dimitri Goossens talk at Arti et Amicitiae

Ronald Ophuis and Dimitri Goossens are part of Arti et Amicitiae's last symposium before the summer break: “Arti Shuffle: Emptiness and Infinite Space” on 31 May. The event starts at 20.30 hrs.

Both guests will address the shadow sides of man from the perspective of art and philosophy, respectively. They are interested in how, through 'disruption', we can examine and question our still unscrupulous world and all its horrors. Ophuis has been portraying 'evil' for about 25 years. In his work, we find executions, beatings, rape and suicide scenes, violence and other border violations, among others. Such depictions of (among other things) 'death' also interest Goossens eminently. He examines the often repressed sense of death in Western culture, both in popular culture (partly in his recently published 'In the eyes of Medusa. Philosophy and the dark mirror of horror') and in art.
