Alicia Framis presents new installation 'Cartas el Cielo' at CCA Kitakyushu, Japan
Cartas al Cielo (Letters to the Sky) has been developed at other locations, and for CCA GALLERY (Center for Contemporary Art Kitakyushu, Japan) Alicia Framis presents a special version of the project focusing on a Japanese audience. The work consists of stainless steel balls which serve as postboxes. The audience is invited to send messages to people whose addresses are unknown, whatever the reasons – this may be because they are not here anymore, maybe because they don’t have addresses, or maybe he/she wants to reach a particular person but not by normal post and other ways of communicating such as e-mail, SNS or telephone. The letters stay in the postboxes and will be part of the work, with the writers’ thoughts, desires, wishes, longings, dreams and hopes.
Alicia Framis stayed in CCA Kitakyushu from October 3rd to 10th, 2017.
