Today: Rosa Menkman, Whiteout, 2020. Video, watch it via https://www.upstream.gallery/.

Rosa Menkman (NL, 1983) is a Dutch art theorist, curator, and visual artist specialising in glitch art and resolution theory. She investigates video compression, feedback, and glitches, using her exploration to generate artworks. Whiteout is a story that describes over-saturation induced by loss of reference. Or how emptiness can be overwhelming. A visual essay made during a very busy year Menkman between a residency at CERN, and a trip to Antarctica, it mediates an electronic and physical landscape, first seen during the preview for Transmediale 2020 in Berlin, as performed live, now updated for this exhibition. More info can be found at https://beyondresolution.info. Menkman won the Collide international 2019 at Cern (as did Suzanne Treister, also featuring in this show the year before.)
